Music Ministry

Join together in song, under the talented direction of our choir director. Rehearsals are conducted on Wednesday evenings at 6pm in the Church. We sing at the 4:30pm Saturday Mass; 8:00am and 10:00am, on Sunday Masses as your schedule allows. Contact the parish office (415)334-4646 with any questions.

Youth Group

All young men and women are welcome! Gatherings are on occasion and announced in the bulletin and in this space when scheduled.

Hispanic Community

We keep alive our heritage and Catholic Faith through the Celebration of the Holy Eucharist. We come together  on Sundays for the celebration of the Lord's Day.  We welcome everyone to come and join us  in our ministries to serve our God and neighbor. We have the Hispanic Parish council which represents  the community and addresses its needs. We highlight our representation through various feasts: Salvador del Mundo, La Immaculada Concepcion de Maria, Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe, las Posadas etc., in preparation to celebrate Christmas. We have  prayer groups which meet on Wednesday at 6pm and  the second group which meets on Sundays at 10am.  We Unite as a community praying the Rosary for the sanctity of all life from conception until natural death. Meditative hymns are sung, along with the recitation of the Rosary. No experience required. Mentors provided. If interested in any of our ministries please contact the Parish office at 415-334-4646.

Eucharistic Adoration

First Friday of the month immediately after the  morning 9:00am Mass  till 10:30am.  The Blessed Sacrament is exposed and adored. This is an opportunity where the our God and the Lord of Divine mercies waits for us. 

Finance Council

It supports the Pastor in the temporal governance of the Parish and  issues related to St. John the Evangelist Church. The Council Advises the Pastor on financial matters of the parish and school. Responsible for monitoring all income and expenses, and approving the annual budgets.

Offertory Counters

A group that counts the funds collected at Mass each week. Each group volunteers about once a month.

Parish Pastoral Council

The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) is a very important advisory body of men and women representing  various aspects and ministries of our Parish. The PPC is involved in most activities and programs effecting the liturgical and spiritual life of the Parish of St. John the Evangelist. 

Senior Altar Servers

Men and women who assist at Mass or Funeral masses to enhance the worship of our faith community.

Stations of the Cross

Held on Fridays during the Lentens season: In the mornings after the 9am Mass in English and in the evenings at 6:30pm in Spanish in the Church. Following the Stations of the Cross (via crucis) in spanish we have soup and sharing in the Parish Hall.

Usher

These are Volunteers who exercize their part as being good hosts and stewards of the Parish Church. They serve in the ministry of Hospitality.  They welcome all those who come to the Church for the weekend Masses.  They assist people to their seat if necessary. They also take up the collection.

Knights of Columbus

All practicing Catholic men, 18 or older, are welcome to join Council #615 of the Knights of Columbus.  We are proud to be the oldest Knight Council west of the Mississippi and to be part of the largest fraternity of Catholic men in the world.  Our fraternal and charitable activities support the Catholic Church, our parishes, our communities and the disadvantaged. Meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month from 7:00 to 9:00 in the Parish Hall of St. John the Evangelist. Filipino Community

Join us the First Saturday of the month after the evening Mass for our monthly meetings to plan our cultural, Liturgical, Parish, social, Prayer and  devotional ministry at St. John the Evangelist Parish.  Every year we celebrate the Feasts of San Lorenzo  Ruiz de Manila, Santo Nino, Pabasa, Salubong, etc., For more information, you may contact Maria Luisa Antonio.

Altar Server

Boys and girls from grade 3 and above who assist the priest at the liturgy.

Baptism Preparation

Preparing parents for the formation of their child’s faith.  Please call the Parish office at 415-334-4646.

Eucharistic Minister

Extraordinary Ministers of Communion who serve the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass and to the sick and homebound.

Fellowship Committee

Volunteers who coordinate social activities and gatherings of parishioners during the year.

Flowers and Grounds

Volunteers who care for and beautify the grounds and church.

Greeters

Parish volunteers who warmly welcome parishioners as they enter the Church for Mass.

Lector

Reader who proclaim the Scriptures at Mass and other services.

Liturgical Linen Service

Responsible for the preparation and care of the altar linens. This includes the washing and ironing of purificators, corporals, and altar linens.

RCIA

Rite of Christian Initiation – preparation of adult candidates for Catholic sacraments.

Sacristan

Duties include preparing the Altar for Mass, assiting the priest at the celebration of the Eucharist with the help of altar servers and cleaning the altar following the Mass.
